After the funeral, the body of the deceased may be buried or cremated.
For cremation, the cremated remains of the dearly departed will be presented to the family during our ash collection service, where family members can transfer the ashes into the urn, with the help from our staff.
Families can then decide where the ashes will be stored at, and we will assist loved ones in areas of paperwork administration, and relocate the ashes to the final resting place. In Singapore, cremated remains can be stored in any of the following places:
- Garden of Peace (Inland ash scattering)
- Sea Burial
- Government or private columbariums
- One’s own home
Sea Burial
Sea burial is the practice of scattering cremated ash remains into the sea.
During the ash collection service, the ashes will be placed in either a biodegradable urn or wrapped in a piece of cloth. The ashes will then be transported by our staff to the jetty, where the family members will board the bumboat.
Once the bumboat reaches the designated scattering location, family members can release the biodegradable urn or the ashes into the ocean for the final goodbye.
Some may choose sea burial as their final resting place as they wish to return to nature or because of their love for the sea and marine life.
The Garden of Peace is Singapore’s first land ash-scattering facility.

Gong Teck is a traditional memorial ceremony found in Chinese customs to commemorate the departed by accumulating merits for their ancestors and expressing gratitude and appreciation to loved ones.
Gong Tek ceremonies can be held on the 49th day, 100th day, 1st year or 3 years after the departed passing.
In Buddhist and Taoist customs, An Ling and Ji Ling refers to the 49 Days mourning period that the bereaved family observes. It is believed that during this period, the departed is in an intermediate state as they wait to be reborn into the next life. As such, bereaved family members continue the prayer rituals to aid in a smoother transition into the afterlife and as an act of filial piety.
An ling takes place at homes of the family while Ji Ling takes place at either temples or columbariums. Items such as the tablet, joss pot, daily food offerings, weekly/daily prayers are presented.
